Vampire Survivors with Vtubers

HoloCure is an indie game created by Kay Yu. In this action game, inspired by Vampire Survivors, you will fight endless waves of enemies. The catch is you will suit up as one of the HoloMyth, and your opponents are mascots and fans.

While HoloCure is mechanically similar to Vampire Survivors, players will also find elements from Magic Survival. More than fighting enemies, you will also collect as much loot as possible to level up, get more weapons and armors, and gain automatic attacks. However, note that unlocking the Vtubers is done through a gacha system. 

What is HoloCure?

HoloCure is a fan game that puts the popular Vtubers in a Vampire Survivors-esque world. It lets you play as one of the HoloMyths, the first generation of English-speaking Hololive Vtubers. Here, your job is to fight against fans and mascots driven mad by an unnamed evil force. You can play the standard mode, where you need to defeat the boss to win, or the endless mode with online leaderboards.

Each Vtuber has a unique weapon thematically consistent with its character concept. However, you can unlock several new weapons, skills, and items as you defeat enemies and gain experience. You can also awaken your starting weapon to make it more powerful. However, note that while the weapons you unlock are available to all characters, each character has unique upgrades, which only they can use.

There are 11 Hololive characters you can play as. However, only five of them are available from launch. You can unlock the remaining Vtuber through an in-game gacha mechanic. Don't worry, though. You will only use in-game coins you collect as you play. However, you will spend 1,000 coins at a time to unlock a character. Moreover, as in real gachas, you may unlock duplicates.

Should you play it?

Overall, HoloCure is a fun game to play if you are into horde survival games or a fan of the HoloMyths. It is crammed full of references and in-jokes that will remind you of the popular Vtubers. Moreover, the enemy designs are all based on the mascots and representation of the fans. However, don't expect a casual experience, as the game can be challenging, especially as you play longer.
